Course Structure
- We are able to offer an alternative to the 2 days in the classroom for childminders and carers who need to complete a Paediatric First Aid Course.
- Our blended course offers a video-based online course that is completed before attending a full day in the classroom with an instructor to complete the practical part of the course.
- ProTrainings Paediatric courses are approved by across the UK. Our Paediatric courses meet the latest 2019 learning outcomes laid down by the Awarding Organisations.
Course Content
Unit 1: Emergency Paediatric First Aid
- Understand the role and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider
- Be able to assess an emergency situation safely
- Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who are unresponsive
- Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who are choking
- Be able to provide first aid to an infant or a child with external bleeding
- Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child who is suffering from shock
- Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child with bites, stings and minor injuries
Unit 2: Managing paediatric illness, injuries and emergencies
- Be able to administer first aid to an infant or a child with suspected injuries to bones, muscles and joints
- Be able to provide first aid to an infant or a child with suspected head and spinal injuries
- Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child with conditions affecting the eyes, ears and nose
- Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child with an acute medical condition or sudden illness.
- Know how to provide first aid to an infant and a child who is experiencing extremes of body temperature.
- Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child who has sustained an electric shock
- Know how to administer first aid to an infant or a child with burns or scalds
- Know how to administer first aid to an infant or a child with suspected poisoning
- Be able to provide first aid to an infant or child with anaphylaxis
